Can you believe that we have only had one full week of school??! We have already done so much!
The AP 3-D retreat at Menucha was amazing. It was kinda crazy to do it the very first weekend of school, but it all worked out. I felt like you all came together as a cohesive group and that everyone was very productive while we were there. Our guest artist, Sarah Davis, was also a big treat to have there. I felt like it was good for you guys to meet someone who is working on getting her name known in the world of ceramics... sometimes it is hard to imagine the steps to take in becoming a successful visual artist, and to me, she personified an intermediate position between being a student and a self-supporting artist.
The work that I have seen during our critique was good, the attention you paid our guest artist was stellar, and the way you conducted yourself on the retreat left me feeling like a proud momma! I am super excited to spend the year helping all of you in your quest to completing your portfolio!

Totally agree that we bonded really well on the retreat! Sarah had a pretty cool story to share.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the guest artist! She makes her work seem so simple to do but when I tried it I couldn't get it to look as beautiful as hers. I'm pretty sure most people in out class can agree to that.
ReplyDeleteI'm really disappointed that I missed the retreat. Sounds like it was a great experience. However, I'm really excited that I have the whole year to spend lots of time and get artsy with my classmates

ReplyDeleteAgreed! The retreat was really fun and I think we all got some ideas out of it. Personally I really liked the simple decorating that our guest artist does. I'm really excited for the year!
ReplyDeleteThe retreat for me set me up for a great year, we all go to know each other more, and had a chance to get away and get projects made.

ReplyDeleteI seriously had such a good time at the retreat. The guest artist was really cool and gave me an new perspective on individuality and originality. This year is going to be a fun adventure and i cant wait to start putting together my portfolio!

ReplyDeletei thought that our bonding time was absolutely fantastic and got everyone to come out of their shells. i think were all on the same page now. im so so super excited for this class. and sarah was very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteIf someone didn't know someone else before this retreat then that wall was definitly broken down. We all really got to know one another at the retreat. I had so much fun and it was a beautiful spot. Im so excited for the rest of the year with everyone.

ReplyDeleteThe retreat was boss, the guest artist was Great, the brushstroke work she did was awesome. also the Andy goldsworthy project was sweet, I really like how mine turned out
